Previews and picks for playoff matchups tonight for Wildcat volleyball
Mount Si volleyball wraps up regular season with win
Mount Si’s varsity volleyball team is heading into the postseason on a solid note after closing out the regular season last night with a rare sweep of an opponent.
The Wildcats took care of the Woodinville Falcons in three sets, 25-21, 25-21, 25-23 at Woodinville High School. Santa Clara-bound senior Anna McCreadie led the way for Mount Si with 12 kills, 12 digs, six aces and an assist as Mount Si finished the season at 4-4 in Kingco 4A, 10-4 overall, and the fifth overall seed to the Kingco Tournament, a seeding that was locked up thanks to their win and wins by both Eastlake and Issaquah over Inglemoor and Newport, respectively.
Courteney Carr had 30 assists and four digs to pace the Wildcats, while Haley Holmberg had eight kills and seven digs in her first match of the season; the junior has been out all season with various injuries and ailments. Liz Larson pitched in eight kills, 15 digs, two aces and two blocks to aid Mount Si, who also had 21 digs from Jenn Rogers. Mount Si will meet four-seed Issaquah tomorrow in the opening round of the Kingco Tournament at Skyline High School. First serve is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
Mount Si’s senior volleyball players close out home careers with a strong effort in sweep of Redmond
Posted on October 22, 2014 by Rhett Workman
Senior Night last night for Mount Si High School’s volleyball program featured a little emotion in the pregame ceremonies, as the team’s five seniors – players Sarah Brevick, Anna McCreadie, Jenn Rogers and Liz Larson along with student manager Dominique Knoppi – were recognized for their years of service to the Wildcat program, then, after that, Mount Si used that emotion to fuel a very satisfying win that may have helped start to right a ship that had stumbled somewhat with two losses last week. The Wildcats this season have not seen much in the way of three-set sweep victories, but last night’s match against Redmond proved to be one, as Mount Si took care of business, 25-23, 25-18, 25-20. Wildcat volleyball falls for first time this season
This season has been a long and tough one for Mount Si High School’s girls’ volleyball team. The team, coming into Tuesday night’s matchup with Issaquah, was undefeated, but the large number of four and five-set wins certainly made for a few nervous moments for the team and its fans. And while so many wins in that fashion certainly can build a team’s character, one also has to assume that at some point, all the hard work would eventually catch up with the Wildcats, and Tuesday night, it did.
VARSITY MATCH NOTES: Mount Si Varsity Volleyball versus Redmond 10.21.14. Mount Si Wildcats improved their League record to 3-2 last night beating Redmond Volleyball. It was night to celebrate all 5 seniors, Anna McCreadie, Jenn Rogers, Liz Larson, Sara Brevick and Manager, Dominique Knoppi. Thank you to all who came out and showed appreciate to these young ladies. Go Wildcats!
JV MATCH NOTES: Mount Si JV Volleyball versus Redmond 10.21.14. Mount Si dominated the first set starting with eleven serves in a row by Amanda Harkleroad (3-aces) with Emily Cole getting four-kills during that run. Mount Si continued to pull away with more tough serving from Sarah Miller and Emily, and Drew Butler and Amanda getting 2-kills apiece. Mount Si went on to win the first set 25-16. In the second set Mount Si put themselves in a hole missing five out of their first 10-serve attempts and struggling to put pressure on Redmond offensively. Down 14-20 Mount Si mounted a wonderful comeback starting with five-aces in a row from Linsay Showalter. Some more tough serves from Sarah got Mount Si to match point, forcing Redmond to take their final timeout down 24-25. A missed serve after the timeout and two kills gave Redmond the 2nd set win 27-25. The third (deciding) set was another battle. Mount Si started with 3-aces from Amanda and 3-more tough serves from Lilly Bachand forcing Redmond to take their first timeout down 2-7. Redmond fought back with some kills and difficult serves getting Mount Si to take their first timeout up 9-6. The set went back and forth with a kill from Amanda and an ace from Linsay getting Redmond to take their final timeout down 11-13. Redmond scored the next four-points after the timeout getting the win 15-13. Team leaders were Amanda with 8-aces, Drew Butler with 11-assists, Emily with 7-kills, Sarah with 17-digs, and Amanda with a 1.8-serve-receive average (22% perfect passes).
Mount Si volleyball once again digs deep to bring home a ‘W’, plus other volleyball news
Mount Si High School’s volleyball season thus far has had one theme. Work hard, and we mean hard. And once again, that proved to be the case last night, as once again, they had to reach back for a little extra to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
The Right Stuff Volleyball Blog: McCreadie’s monster night
October 9, 2014 at 12:34 PM Posted by Sandy Ringer Seattle TImes
Anna McCreadie can be a monster on the volleyball court for Mount Si. And that monster was unleashed Tuesday when the ninth-ranked Wildcats needed one against Bothell in the opening KingCo 4A Conference match of the season. McCreadie, a 6-foot-3 outside hitter who has committed to Santa Clara, tied the school record with 37 kills as Mount Si rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win. “We got the ball to Anna in the front row and we got it to her in the back,” coach Bonnie Foote said, noting McCreadie made just six errors in 83 attempts. “She does a really nice job of taking care of the ball.” Former standout Lindsay Carr set the record as a junior in 2012. Carr’s younger sister, Courteney, played a significant role in Tuesday’s performance as she doled out 49 assists, just two shy of the school record. She’s just a sophomore.

Mount Si JV Volleyball versus Inglemoor JV
Mount Si won 13-25, 25-23, 15-12

In the first set Mount Si struggled in serve receive (got aced nine times), could not get anything going on offense, and Inglemoor took control early and cruised to a 25-13 win. In the second set Mount Si turned the tables on Inglemoor starting with two aces from Amanda Harkleroad, an ace apiece from Drew Butler and Emily Cole, and kills from Emily, Amanda, Drew, and Adrianna Auxier causing Inglemoor to take a time-out at 5-10. Some great defense (Dana Kenow led the team with 18-digs), tough serving, and good choices on offense kept the pressure on Inglemoor. Two more aces from Amanda forced Inglemoor to take their second time-out at 14-21. Inglemoor rallied behind some strong serving and kills from their right-side hitter, but Mount Si was able to close out the set for a 25-23 win. The third (deciding) set was a tough battle. Mount Si started off with an ace from Linsay Showalter, a couple of kills from Emily, a kill from Linsay, and then an ace from Drew forcing Inglemoor to call their first time-out at 4-6. Inglemoor called time-out at 12-14. After the time-out Amanda made a tough serve causing Inglemoor into giving an easy attack, which Mount Si converted into a kill from Emily for a 15-12 win. Bothell won 25-18, 25-16, 15-8

Bothell started out with some tough consistent serving, Mount Si struggled in serve receive, and Bothell took control early. Mount Si rallied behind the serving of Amanda Harkleroad and Lilly Bachand, and 4-kills from Emily Cole, but Mount Si could not maintain consistent serving and serve-receive and Bothell pulled away for a 25-18 first set win. In the second set Mount Si had some great rallies and strong serving from Drew Butler and Linsay Showalter, but a lack of overall consistent play again proved to be their downfall in a 25-16 Bothell victory. The third set was more of the same for a 15-8 Bothell win. Amanda Harkleroad led the team with 13-digs, Emily Cole had 9-kills, Drew Butler 2-aces, and Drew and Emma Anderson led the team with 7-assists apiece.

Skyline won 25-6, 25-21, 14-15

The Skyline JV team came out and served us very tough in the first set and we did not respond very well. They served tough, hit well, and played strong defense and ran away from us early and we did not recover, losing 25-6. In the second set we came out a little better prepared mentally and kept things closer. We were down early 12-17, but fought back to within two-points at 16-18, but a receiving error and hitting error allowed Skyline to pull away again, and they ended up winning 25-21. In the third (non-deciding) set, Lilly Bachand rattled off 7-tough serves in a row to give us a commanding lead, Linsay Showalter got two kills, and Macy Baltesar and Jessica Hanners picked up a kill apiece on the way to a 15-14 win (there is a 15-point cap in non-deciding sets, you don’t have to win by two-points).

Mount Si varsity outlasts Everett
Mount Si High School’s varsity volleyball team traveled up to Everett last night and for the second straight match found themselves in a five-set nail-biter. But like last Thursday’s win over Shorewood, the Wildcats once again prevailed. Mount Si got it done with a 25-8, 20-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-7 victory, aided by a strong effort from senior Anna McCreadie.
Mount Si High School volleyball ladies open season with quality win - Posted on by Rhett Workman
Mount Si High School’s volleyball team opened the season Tuesday night at home in Snoqualmie with a pretty tough challenge.
The Kentwood Conquerors are located in Wildcat coach Bonnie Foote’s backyard of Kent, are coached by one of her closest friends in Bill Caillier, and he has built a program over the years there that has become strikingly similar to Mount Si’s – a program that demands, and gets, success and trips to the postseason. So the average observer would have expected a long night for both sides.
As it turned out, though, the Wildcats worked through early-season jitters and scored a well-earned three-set sweep of the “Conks”. Scores were 26-24, 25-19 and 25-21 as Mount Si also saw a solid debut from their varsity freshmen, Tati Utley and Amanda Harkleroad, in the contest.
